Amazon.co.uk Review If you like your humour broadside up, hold the subtlety, you'll want to nurse this Hangover with your best mates. The ensemble cast meshes perfectly--it's like a super-R-rated episode of Friends: silly, slapstick, and completely in the viewer's face. When four pals go to Vegas to celebrate the imminent nuptials of one of them, they partake in a rooftop toast to "a night we'll never forget." But they're in for a big surprise: their celebration drinks were laced with date-rape drugs, so when they awake in their hotel room 12 hours later, not only are they hung over, but they can't remember what they did all night long. Oh, and they're missing the groom-to-be. The film is so cheerfully raunchy, so fiercely crude, that the humour becomes as intoxicating as the mind-altering substances. The standout in the ensemble is Zach Galifianakis, who is alternately creepy and hilarious. Ed Helm (The Office), in addition to his memory, loses a tooth in uncomfortably realistic fashion, and Bradley Cooper (He's Just Not That into You) has deadpan comic timing that whips along at the speed of light. "Ma'am, you have an incredible rack," he blares to a pedestrian from the squad car the guys have "borrowed." "I should have been a [bleeping] cop," he tells himself approvingly. Director Todd Phillips brings back his deft handling of the actors and the dude humour that worked so well in Old School, as well as the unctuous Dan Finnerty, memorable as a lounge/wedding singer in both films. But it's the nonstop volley of jokes--most cheerily politically incorrect--that grabs the audience and thrashes it around the hotel room. Just watch out for the tiger in the bathroom. --A.T. Hurley

Vulgar and tasteless - a resounding five stars June 21, 2009 Four Violets (Hertford UK) 8 out of 10 found this review helpful
This film will probably go down as a "guilty pleasure" for many, myself included. I probably shouldn't have found such a vulgar, tasteless film as hilarious as I did.
Everyone knows the plot I expect, 4 very different guys having a great time in Las Vegas, on a stag do, losing their memories as well as the groom, then having to unravel their nocturnal escapades.
Las Vegas looks tempting, there are some positively gorgeous shots of it in that desert light, I loved the sound track, and was relieved to have unknowns (to me anyway) as actors. I'm so sick of the same old faces. The pace is frantic and I was chortling or laughing out loud for most of the entire film.
A very enjoyable, clever and crazy film.
Definately the best kind of Hangover June 21, 2009 White_wolf_girl1988 (United Kingdom) 29 out of 37 found this review helpful
Four guys head to Las Vegas for a bachelor party, only to wake up the next morning with the world's biggest, nastiest hangover, missing not only their memories of the night before, but also missing the groom, Doug.
I know this film isn't out on dvd yet, as it has only just been released in UK cinemas, but I HAD to recommend it, because it is just THAT good. It is definately the funniest film I have seen in a long time and I will definately be buying it as soon as it is released!
The film follows the guys efforts to make sense of their hazy memories and find the groom, by following various clues from the night before(what could the tiger in the bathroom possibly mean? :P)
A highlight for me was the character of Alan (played by Zach Galifianakis), who is the bride's socially- inept, ecstasy-loving brother. His character is seemingly slightly unbalanced, but ultimately well-meaning, and you actually start to feel for him as he begins to discover the delights of having friends and being part of his very own little 'wolf-pack' (his words, not mine).
Also along for the ride is Stu, a dentist ("not a doctor!!!"), whose uptight girlfriend believes he has gone to Napa Valley for some sort of wine tasting trip (nothing like a healthy relationship based on lies and psychotic controlling tendencies).
Next we have Phil (played by Bradley Cooper) a married schoolteacher who doesn't seem to like kids or his marriage. For Phil, Vegas is the ultimate escape from his surburban hell (which he is keen to impress upon Stu, who is considering proposing to his long-term girlfriend. Phil is the one with the marriage 'experience' ; something he is more than happy to escape from for a few days. After all, what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas... right??
The film may sound like the typical 'drunk fools making idiots out of themselves, puking and falling over themselves' type of film, but it is so much more than that. It is a laugh-a-minute type of film and although some scenes and characters do come off slightly predictable (in particular, the asian mob boss with the annoyingly high-pitched voice and an 80 grand score to settle), there are too many completely random and hysterical events going on, making boredom impossible. Watch it now! Trust me, you won't regret it :)
The Perfect Hangover May 19, 2010 Ian Jarman (Wellington,Som,Eng) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
The Hangover [DVD] [2009]
If Life of Brian is 1, Hangover has to be in the top ten. J P Thomas 16/04/10 sums it up well. I get fed up with people disecting every part of a film. Just watch the bloody thing... Be part of it. It's comic genius at it's best.
They don't know what's happened the morning after, so you don't.
Zach Galifianakis may steal a few of the scenes on first viewing but when you watch it again, and again, and again, and you invaribly will, you'll see and hear superb gems to keep you laughing out loud. One sad point is, this is it, they can't do a follow up. So watch it and enjoy for a long time. Got to go now, going to put it on again.
The best ever hangover! May 5, 2010 A. Tyrer (England) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
When you think of a hangover you usually think of feeling awful, having a headache, feeling sick and not remembering a thing from the night before. Well this is all of that and more, this is one hangover you wont regret.
Fantastic film, unbeliavably funny and looks great in HD on Blu Ray.
Well worth buying.
